The Birmingham Bop is a style of dance that became popular in Birmingham in 1952-53, introduced by way of dance clubs in Panama City, Florida. The linear 6-count dance is related to the shag or East Coast swing, but distinctive for its slinky pull-bys and turns and is usually danced to mid-tempo blues, R&B or beach music.

The dance is preserved, elaborated and shared by the Magic City Boppers club, which gives lessons and hosts weekly dances at Gabriel's Cafe in Hoover's River Oaks Shopping Center. The club also holds monthly dance meetings at the Birmingham Firefighters Hall and an annual "Hangout Weekend" in Panama City.
