The Southeast Region Conference of the Free Methodist Church is the regional body of the Free Methodist Church including all of Alabama and six other states. It is headed by Superintendent Mike McAvoy.
Historically, the only Free Methodist Church in the Birmingham metropolitan area has been Faith Free Methodist Church in Pleasant Grove. More recently, Emmanuel Church of Birmingham was founded. It meets at a Fairfield Inn in Bessemer. According to the 2020 US Religion Census, these two congregations had a total of 50 adherents.
Some conservative congregations leaving the United Methodist Church are expected to follow the example of Frazer United Methodist Church in Montgomery and join the Free Methodist Church.
