Julie Keith

Julie Keith (born c. 1968) was one of the founders of Thicket magazine and succeeded Joe O'Donnell as editor of Birmingham magazine in 2009.

Keith earned her bachelor's (1990) and master's (1993) degrees in English at Auburn University. After graduating she worked at a bank in Birmingham before finding a position with a local needlework and crafts publication. She left that job to take over as editor of Alabama magazine, then moved to Des Moines, Iowa to become a managing editor for Better Homes and Gardens Crafts Group.

Keith and her husband and fellow Auburn alumnus, Todd returned to Alabama in 2002 to work at Birmingham lifestyle magazine Portico, where she was executive editor. She and Todd left Portico in 2008 to launch Thicket, a statewide bimonthly magazine covering politics and business as well as culture and the environment.
