The Rewinds are a pop-rock band that started in Birmingham as a trio with Glenn Drennen on guitar and vocals, Chris Markham on bass, and Brooks Marks at the drums. The trio recorded a demo tape in Nashville and decided to hold auditions for a second guitarist, bringing Michael Shackleford into the group. Soon Shackleford's songwriting and vocal skills propelled him to the front of the band and they were soon signed to Atlanta's Livewire Recordings.

The "new" Rewinds played their debut show at The Nick on January 10, 2004 and generated a buzz that included opportunities to open for acts like My Morning Jacket and The Whigs while headlining regularly at area clubs.

They spent months playing locally and rehearsing at Uncle Bob's Self Storage off West Valley Avenue before moving to Atlanta in August 2005 to begin laying down tracks for their debut album. The self-titled album includes 14 original songs in a classic, melodic brit-pop vein which have garnered solid reviews since its release in June 2006. The album was recorded at Vintage Vide Studios and produced by Colin Cobb and mastered by Emily Lazar. The release is being distributed by Ryko while the band tours the U.S.

They performed on the Coca-Cola Stage at City Stages 2006 and on August 18, 2006 at WorkPlay.
