Richard Lytle

Richard A. Lytle (born c. 1942 in Birmingham; died May 15, 2012 in Mountain Brook was a surgeon, and former president of the Birmingham Surgical Society and Birmingham Academy of Medicine.

Lytle, the son of W. Murray and Lottie Lytle, grew up in Birmingham and graduated from Woodlawn High School and Birmingham-Southern College. He complected his medical degree at UAB and served his residency under John Kirklin, finishing in 1975. He then spent two years in the U. S. Navy, serving in Long Beach, California, before returning to Birmingham. He and Bucky Wood founded Wood, Lytle PA at East Lake's East End Memorial Hospital, which later moved to St Vincent's East in Huffman.

Lytle has served on the board of Eastern Health Systems and Outpatient Services East. In addition to serving as president of the Birmingham Surgical Society and Birmingham Academy of Medicine, he was vice president of the Jefferson County Medical Society.

Lytle died at home in Mountain Brook in May 2012.
