Suzanne Smith Childers is a judge in the domestic relations division of the 10th Judicial Circuit of Alabama in Jefferson County.

Childers established a law office on Rhodes Circle in Birmingham in 1983, specializing in divorce cases. She ran as a Democrat in the 2006 general election, defeating incumbent John C. Calhoun in Place 15. She took the bench on January 1, 2007.

Childers reacted angrily to a skit performed by local attorneys at a Birmingham Inn of Court dinner party at the Summit Club in October 2007. After she wrote to the performers condemning the skit, presiding Circuit Court Judge Scott Vowell issued an administrative order preventing her from hearing cases argued by members of six law firms involved in the skit.

She again made news in 2009 when she began carrying a handgun to court as a response to lowered security in the wake of the Jefferson County debt crisis.
