The UAB Softball Field, located at 9th Avenue South and 12th Street South, is the home of the UAB Blazers's softball team. Opening on February 23, 2010, the facility has seating for 350 spectators and serves as a replacement for the temporary facility at George Ward Park.

On April 1, 2008 several parents of current and former UAB softball players filed a Title IX complaint with the Office of Civil Rights stating that the facility at George Ward Park was both inadequate for play and unsafe. With the George Ward Park always viewed as a temporary facility, in November 2008, UAB officials presented to the University of Alabama System Board of Trustees a proposal to construct an on-campus facility. The plans for its construction is phased with the initial one calling for the stadium to share restroom facilities with the neighboring baseball stadium and temporary seating for 350. Later phases will ultimately result in construction of a permanent facility.

The first game was played on February 23, 2010, against the University of Alabama softball team. Before a crowd of 1,323, the Crimson Tide defeated the Blazers 7-3 in the inaugural contest.
