Wade Kwon

Wade Kwon (born 1971 in Birmingham) is associate features editor for Southern Living magazine and the publisher of the news and poetry blog "Wade on Birmingham". From 1996 to 2005 he worked at the Birmingham Post-Herald. Prior to that he contributed to Black & White.

Kwon is a 1989 graduate of the Shades Valley Resource Learning Center (now Jefferson County International Baccalaureate School) and a 1992 graduate of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York where he was a member of the marching band and worked on the Cornell Daily Sun newspaper.

Kwon was know for his "Wade's 101" lists at Black & White and rose quickly through the ranks at the Post-Herald, contributing weekly columns as well as editing the Accent and Features sections.

Kwon is also active in various civic organizations. He has served on the young advisory board for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Birmingham and was a founding member of the Young Journalists Club (now Media of Birmingham). He is also a leader of the Magic City Mission/Hands On Birmingham which works with Hands On New Orleans to help with rebuilding in coastal areas damaged by Hurricane Katrina.
