Writer's Block

The Red Bull Writer's Block was an annual graffiti art event held since 2003 at Sloss Furnaces, sponsored by Red Bull energy drink.

2006

The 2006 event was held on April 8. The sponsors provided three full-size rail container cars as canvasses and 20 artists plied their trade. Ten teams of college film-makers were on hand to document the production to submit in competition at the after party held at Tantra.

Graffiti artists included Frame and Relic from Los Angeles; Elk from Kansas City; Ken82 from New Orleans; KET, Tkid, CES, and Ses One from New York City; Revise from Chicago; Rei21 and Envy from D.C., Erups from Utah; Pose 2 from Philadelphia; Goose from Tennessee; Sub One and Les One from Portland, Maine, and Scar, Rek, and Aser from Birmingham.

The accompanying film competition was won by "Murphy's Law" by Jessica Berryman and Tony Reyes from Middle Tennessee State University.

Following the one day event, the three rail-cars toured the United States in a traveling exhibit.

2003

The inaugural "Southern Graffiti Expo" was held on August 29, 2003 with 30 artists utilizing a specially-constructed wall. Participants included Daze, Rek, and Jolt.
