James A. Pfaffman (born June 24, 1934; died April 6, 2014 in Birmingham) was an architect.

Pfaffman graduated from Savannah High School and Auburn University in 1959. He worked for Abreu & Robeson in Atlanta, Georgia before returning to Birmingham. He was president of AIA Birmingham in 1979, and is known for his portfolio of "Tiny Houses", designs for homes of less than 1,000 square feet.

Pfaffman's son Jay is a social science research association. His daughter Amy is an organizing consultant and jewelry artist.
