The 2014 Birmingham Barons was the second Barons team to play in downtown Birmingham's Regions Field and began the season as reigning Southern League champions.

The season marked the Logan family's 8th season as team Owners and the team's 29th season as a Chicago White Sox AA affiliate. They played in the North division of the Southern League along with the Huntsville Stars, Chattanooga Lookouts, Jackson Generals and Tennessee Smokies.

Julio Vinas entered his second season as field manager. Brandon Moore was the team's batting coach and Britt Burns coached pitchers.

Since 2008, the Barons have worn white pinstripes with black caps with a white Gothic "B" outlined in red at home, and road grays inspired by the uniforms worn by the Negro American League champion 1948 Birmingham Black Barons.

The team opened their 2013 campaign with a 5-2 win at the Montgomery Biscuits on April 4. They lost a 7-4 game to the Jacksonville Suns in their home debut on April 9 before a Wednesday night crowd of 6,411. The Barons finished the regular season with a record of 60-80 (.428) and finished 5th (last place) in the Southern League's North Division, 17 games behind the pennant-winning Huntsville Stars. Despite the poor showing, the club's second season at Regions Field attracted 437,612 fans, a 10% increase over 2013.
