Sallie T. Smith (born in Columbus, Mississippi) may have been the first female practicing architect in Birmingham.
Smith graduated from Verona College in Mississippi and was trained in architecture by her father, W. S. Smith. In the 1880s she worked in Birmingham as the "junior member" of the firm of W. S. Smith & Co.
