Hoover City Schools is an independent school system established by the City of Hoover in the late 1980s. The system has a student population of over 11,400 and operates 16 schools: two high schools, three middle schools, ten elementary schools, and one alternative school.
The Hoover Board of Education offices are located at the Farr Administration Building, named for deceased superintendent Dr. Jack Farr, 2810 Metropolitan Way. Andy Craig is currently acting as interim superintendent.
