Wilbur is a Southern hairy-nosed wombat (Lasiorhinus latifrons) which went on exhibit at the Birmingham Zoo's "Kangaroo Kountry" exhibit, along with his companion Victoria, on March 17, 2009. Zoo officials hoped that the two, which both came from the Melbourne Zoo in Melbourne, Australia, would produce offspring.
Victoria died in 2010, however, and Wilbur was transferred to the Brookfield Zoo in Brookfield, Illinois.
