The UAB Chemistry Building (originally University College Building No. 2 or the Natural Sciences Building, later the Physical Sciences Building) at 901 14th Street South was the second major building project undertaken in 1970 for the development of a College of General Studies at UAB. Ground was broken at the site of the $2 million classroom, office and laboratory building in July 1970 and it was completed in 1972.
The building was renamed the "Physical Sciences Building" in 1983 and the "Chemistry Building" in 1995, following a renovation.
