He joined the [[Birmingham Police Department]] in [[1996]] and moved to the [[Jefferson County Sheriff's Office]] in [[2012]]. After leaving law enforcement he took a job as a production supervisor at an automotive plant. He continues to serve as a Jefferson County reserve deputy.
