Charles Ball (born c. 1981 in Birmingham) is the executive director of the Regional Planning Commission of Greater Birmingham, chair of the Alabama Commission on Higher Education, a former member of the Auburn University Board of Trustees, and a candidate for Birmingham City Council District 5 in the 2017 Birmingham municipal election.
Ball attended Princeton Elementary School and West End High School. He transferred to Glenn High School before graduating in 1979. He completed a bachelor of arts at Birmingham-Southern College in 1983 and a master's in community planning from Auburn University in 1992.
Ball joined the planning department of Albany-Dougherty, Georgia in 1995 and left in 2000 to become director of planning for Gadsden and of the Gadsden-Etowah Area Metropolitan Planning Organization. He moved to the Regional Planning Commission in 2006.
Ball has also served on the boards of Focus on Recovery and Forever Wild.
As a candidate for City Council, Ball intends to raise the standards for professional and ethical government in Birmingham.
