Slag Heap Brewing Company is a brewery and tap room located in a former ice manufacturing facility at 227 Main Street in downtown Trussville.
Long-time home brewer Joe Meadows trademarked the name of his business in 2015. It is named for the "Slagheap Village" housing project constructed by the New Deal Resettlement Administration in the 1930s. Meadows entered his products into various tasting competitions, winning a People's Choice Award at the Heart of Dixie Open hosted by Good People Brewing Company in 2016 and a first place prize at the April 2017 Masters of the Brewniverse, hosted by AlaBev at Straight to Ale in Huntsville.
