The Modern Market, Jr is a convenience store at 420 Oporto-Madrid Boulevard North (map), across the street from the Texaco Super Deli which was the focus of neighborhood protests in the late Summer of 2007. The store benefitted from the boycott of its neighbor and sheltered protesters.

The rear of the business was used for computerized gambling. After patrons complained that the store's management was not paying out their winnings, police raided the store. 12 workers were arrested and 12 machines confiscated in the October 4, 2007 raid.
