Nelson Smith was a Birmingham-based architect. He was born in 1910 and died in 1997. He is perhaps best known for designing St Luke's Episcopal Church in Mountain Brook. He also worked with Stanley B. Echols in the repairs and reconstruction of 16th Street Baptist Church after it was bombed in 1963. The design of houses made up much of his practice.
