Bermco Aluminum is a privately-held aluminum recycling and smelting company located in Birmingham. It scraps and shreds salvaged metal at a facility at 2201 5th Avenue North in Bessemer, and smelts it into sows and ingots for industrial use at a site near Sloss Furnaces at 3230 Messer Airport Highway.
The company was founded in the 1920s by Fred Berman as the Berman Brothers Iron & Metal Company, and was originally just a scrap yard.
In 2010 the company announced plans to relocate to a new facility in Lincoln, closer to its main automotive-industry customers. The proposed $10 million plant would have more than doubled the company's production.
