New York Pizza is an independently owned restaurant located at 1010 Oxmoor Road in the Edgewood neighborhood of Homewood. The restaurant serves pizza, calzones, pasta, subs, and salads during lunch (Monday through Saturday) and dinner (all week). The owners are Scott Moore and Lyn Saturday.
New York Pizza's decor includes pictures of many New York City landmarks, such as the Statue of Liberty and the World Trade Center. Several of the menu items are also named after these landmarks or New York City neighborhoods, such as the Madison Square and Broadway calzones and Statue of Liberty, Greenwich Village, and Upper East Side pizzas.
New York Pizza originally opened at 1014 Oxmoor Road in 1982. In March 2003, the restaurant moved from that location, which the owners were leasing, to its current, larger location next door, which Moore and Saturday purchased. The two spent $100,000 to gut the building and completely renovate the interior, bringing it up to current building codes.
