Lakewood Baptist Church is a Southern Baptist church located at 8300 9th Avenue South. It was organized in 1927. Its first building was a converted home at 8301 8th Avenue South. Later it purchased an unfinished building across the street at 8300 8th Avenue South that had been begun by Independent Methodist Church. In 1941 it opened a new colonial revival church on the same site. This was during the pastorate of W. O. Love in 1941. A education building was completed in 1951.

In 1964 a new sanctuary building in a modernist style was designed for the church by the architectural firm of Edwin T. McCowan. This building was erected behind the original building on 9th Avenue.

In addition to the Lakewood congregation the church has been the home of Citizens Church since 2020. Its older building has served as the home of Family Worship Center and Banks Academy.
