Fat Sam's Sub Station was a sandwich shop located at 1154 11th Ave South in Glen Iris near the UAB campus. Salman "Sam" Shatara opened the restaurant in the former location of Bob's in March 1990.

Fat Sam's was open from 6:30 AM to 8:00 PM on weekdays and 11:00 to 5:00 on Saturdays. The restaurant's specialties included the "Kitchen Sink Sub" and "Fat Fries".

Shatara was badly injured in a vehicle accident in April 2016 and died a few weeks later. His sons, Mitri and Salman II kept the business going through October before the family decided to close so that the brothers could focus on college. The decision not to sell the business was made to keep Shatara's legacy intact. The last day of business was October 15.
