Jung-Ja Chwe was a former nurse epidemiologist at the Tuscaloosa Veterans Administration Medical Center. She was the first HIV/AIDS care coordinator at the center. She established the Chwe Endowed Nursing Scholarship at the University of Alabama's Capstone College of Nursing. In 2007 she was inducted into Capstone's Alabama Nursing Hall of Fame.
