Mariachi Band Garibaldi is a Latin American mariachi ensemble based in Montgomery which plays regularly in the Birmingham area. The group was founded in New York City in 1988 by José "Evaristo" Hernandez, a native of Nicaragua who was trained at the national conservatory in Managua. Before coming to the United States he played professionally as a mariachi with Cocibolca.
Soon after the group was organized, Hernandez moved the group south to Miami, Florida and then to Atlanta, Georgia where it remained for 9 years before moving to Montgomery in 1998.
