The Office for the Advancement of Developing Industries (OADI) is an business incubator operated by UAB with a focus on medical and biotechnological research and development. It was founded in 1997 in a 68,500 square-foot building in the UAB Research Park in Oxmoor.
In 2007 OADI relocated to the Innovation Depot in downtown Birmingham along with the Entrepreneurial Center. The 1997 building has been put on the market with an asking price of $10 million. It was thought to have been a leading contender for a new influenza vaccine manufacturing plant planned by Solvay Pharmaceuticals. Solvay decided not to build a plant, however.
