Cooking Light is a monthly national magazine published since 1987 by Southern Progress. The magazine, with over 1.5 million paid subscribers and nearly 11 million readers, describes itself as the "largest epicurean magazine in the country." It covers food topics with a particular interest in health, within the context of a balanced and healthy lifestyle. The magazine is complemented by the CookingLight.com website, launched in 1995, which reaches millions of readers with daily news, recipes and nutrition information.
Cooking Light sponsors an annual "Ultimate Reader Recipe Contest" and promotes "Cooking Light Supper Clubs" with special materials. The magazine also sponsors a "FitHouse" display home each year, co-sponsors a professional women's cycling team, and organizes special events around the country.
