Walter G. Harris (born c. 1936) was a former superintendent of Birmingham City Schools and chief of staff for former Birmingham mayor Richard Arrington, Jr.

Harris earned a master of arts at Florida A&M University and a doctorate in education at the University of Florida. He was the first African American to serve as superintendent of Birmingham schools. After leaving the system he served as chief administrative assistant and chief of staff in Arrington's administration.
