Bhamwiki:Categorization

This page is an ad-hoc place to gather thoughts on categorization until such time as an official guideline can be composed.

1. Articles can be in categories that are themselves inter-related, but care should be taken to avoid redundancy. For example, a building that is located on 20th Street North would be put in Category:20th Street North, and would therefore not need to show up in Category:Birmingham. If everything in category A is automatically part of category B, then A itself is sufficient categorization. If not, you can either use both categories or create a subcategory that corrects the ambiguity.
