Regarding the re-categorization of ''[[The Homewood Independent]]'', what is the distinction between [[:Category:Former newspapers]] and [[:Category:Defunct periodicals]]? Is it the format? The price (free or cost)? It's obviously not the frequency. Does the same definition of "newspaper" apply to [[:Category:Alternative newspapers]] and [[:Category:Weekly newspapers]]? (I ask because [[I Cover the War]] is listed in "Alternative newspapers", but also in "Defunct periodicals" instead of "Former newspapers.") Also, once a periodical is defunct, does it still belong in "Alternative newspapers" and/or "Weekly newspapers" or is that only for ones still be published? Finally, what defines a newspaper as "alternative"? * Good questions. In my mind it's the content that distinguishes a newspaper from other types of periodicals. Investigative journalism would be the threshold.
