AT&T South (formerly the BellSouth Corporation formed by the merger of Atlanta's Southern Bell with South Central Bell of Birmingham) is a telecommunications holding company owned by the American Telephone & Telegraph Company (AT&T) and based in Atlanta, Georgia with a major presence in Birmingham.

South Central Bell was formed in July 1968 as a split from Southern Bell, providing telephone service to Alabama, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee. It was one of the seven regional Bell operating companies split off from AT&T by order of the U.S. Department of Justice on January 1, 1984. It merged with Southern Bell in 1992 to form BellSouth, with many corporate functions consolidated in Atlanta by 1995. The combined company was re-acquired by AT&T on December 29, 2006.
