Alton Earl Potts (born 1920 in Randolph County; died December 25, 2013) was pastor of McElwain Baptist Church from 1950 to 1970 and executive secretary of the Alabama Baptist Convention from 1984 to 1990. He was also a co-founder of the Alabama Poverty Project.
Potts graduated from Howard College in Birmingham and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.
Potts was preceded in death by his wife, Louise. He was survived by a son, David, president of Judson College in Marion; a daughter, Libby; two granddaughters and four great-grandchildren.
