Edna F. Snow (born c. 1937) was a teacher, principal, and school board administrator for Homewood City Schools. She retired as Assistant Superintendent for Finance on February 1, 2007.
History
Snow got her first job as a fifth grade teacher at Edgewood Elementary School in 1957, shortly after receiving her elementary education degree from Auburn University. Homewood had not yet formed its own school system yet, so the school was part of Jefferson County Schools at the time.
In 1970, Homewood formed its own school system and Snow was asked to become principal of Edgewood. In 1977 she moved to administative position at the Homewood Board of Education's office. She spent the next 30 years of her 50-year career managing the system's finances before retiring in 2007. She served as interim superintendent three times during this period as well.
For her retirement, Snow did not want a reception, ceremony, or speeches. However, at the end of the school board's January meeting, although it was not on the agenda, a resolution was read commending Snow for her service. This was followed by board members offering personal memories.
