1981: Baseball player Connor Robertson was born in Tuscaloosa.
1975: Birmingham World editor and NAACP leader Emory Jackson died in Birmingham.
1972: Ann Hodges, the only person known to be struck by a meteorite, died in Sylacauga.
1969: Pastor John Cantelow was born in Birmingham.
1963: Dwight and Floyd Armstrong attended the first integrated class at Graymont Elementary School. President Kennedy sent the National Guard to escort black students into West End High School and Ramsay High School.
