'''AHKI's New York Style Street Food''' is a Mediterranean deli located at 121 [[20th Street North]]. It is co-owned by [[Ahmed Hamed]], son of [[Mohamed Hamed]] who opened the [[New York Style Deli]] in the same space after moving from Brooklyn to Birmingham in [[1999]].


New York Style Deli was owned by [[Mohamed Hamed|Mohamed]] and [[Nadia Hamed]]. It was open for breakfast and lunch, Monday through Saturday.  The menu featured a wide variety of items, including bagels, grits, and English muffins at breakfast and New York-style deli sandwiches, gyros, falafel, stuffed grape leaves, and a Southern-style steam table at lunch.
The restaurant features chicken, steak and lamb served as platters, gyros, or burrito-style wraps with a variety of Mediterranean-inspired sauces.


In fall [[2012]], the owners of the neighboring [[McKinney-Strahan residence]], [[Jay McKinney]] and [[Chuck Strahan]], purchased and renovated the deli. It was reopened in December with a similar but updated menu, and Strahan oversaw the day-to-day operation. By the next April, McKinney and Strahan decided to close the deli.

Nadia Hamed later reopened in the same location as [[Manhattan Deli & Grill]]. Their son, [[Ahmed Hamed]] now operates [[AHKI's New York Style Street Food]] from the same building.

The restaurant features chicken, steak and lamb served as platters, gyros, or burrito-style wraps with a variety of Mediterranean-inspired sauces.
