That year a resource group for Black employees at Evonik commissioned a painting by Kenneth Scott Jr of New Orleans, Louisiana entitled "Black Resilience – Innovation in the Midst of Resistance." which honors Love and portrays him alongside [[George Washington Carver]], [[Percy Julian]], Charles Drew, Alma Hayden, and Marie Maynard Daly. The painting toured Evonik facilities across the Eastern United States during that year before going on permanent exhibit in the lobby of the company's laboratory on [[Lakeshore Parkway]].
 
In retirement, Love has served as a trainer for the non-profit [[E3 Solutions]], which was founded by his wife [[Debra Love|Debra]] in [[2015]].

Darryl Love (born c. 1953 in Mississippi) is a former research chemist at Southern Research and senior scientist at Evonik Birmingham Laboratories.

Love grew up in Indianola, Mississippi and graduated from Gentry High School. He earned his bachelor of science in chemistry at Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana and came to Birmingham for additional study at UAB.

He began his career at Southern Research in 1976 and came to specialize in the development of controlled release of pharmaceuticals through microencapsulation. His group was spun off as Brookwood Pharmaceuticals in 2005, which is now a division of Evonik.

Love retired in June 2023.
