The Bank

The Bank is the original name of Superior Bank. In 1997, The Banc Corporation acquired Warrior Savings Bank of Warrior and City National Bank of Sylacauga. Once these banks were merged the name was changed in 1998 to The Bank and the headquarters were moved to Downtown Birmingham after a major renovation to the John A. Hand Building. The Bank acquired banks across Alabama and Florida, but by 2004 the board of directors brought in a new management team, led by C. Stanley Bailey. Bailey and his team were mostly former executives at the Arkansas-based Superior Federal Bank which was acquired by Arvest Bank. The The Bank name was changed to Superior Bank in January 2006.
