Charles Townsend

Charles Townsend (born c. 1935) was principal of Jackson-Olin High School from 1977 to 1992. He was appointed to the Board of Commissioners for the Housing Authority of the Birmingham District in August 2008, succeeding Arthur Welch.

Townsend was serving as chair of the Housing Authority when it voted in 2013 to dismiss director Naomi Truman. He was replaced on the board by In February 2014 when Mayor William Bell appointed Cardell Davis to take his place. With Davis' vote, Truman's dismissal was reversed.
