William H. Hassinger (born c. 1864) was a Louisiana developer who was made vice-president of Republic Iron and Steel Company and sent to Birmingham as district manager with offices at the company's Gate City Alabama Rolling Mill Company plant. In 1909 he was named president of the Southern Iron and Steel Company and resigned a year later "having completed all of the work of construction, extension, betterment, and improvement contemplated under the reorganization of the company."1

He and his wife Virginia Hassinger lived for many years at the William Hassinger residence on Highland Avenue. They moved in 1929 to the massive Hassinger Castle on Carlisle Road in Redmont Park.
