Alabama House District 55
Alabama State House of Representatives, District 55 is an electoral district of the Alabama State House of Representatives. It includes several communities in Jefferson County, including most of Adamsville, eastern Fairfield, and several Birmingham neighborhoods west of downtown, including part of Glen Iris.
District 55 is currently represented by Louise Alexander, who defeated incumbent Lawrence McAdory in the 2014 Democratic primary and Republican Darius Foster and independent candidate Rickey Levins in the 2014 general election.
2024 special election
Fred Plump resigned from the seat when he pleaded guilty to federal charges involving kickbacks for public funding of his youth baseball league. A special election was held on January 9, 2024 to fill the vacant seat.
