Proposed Pinson Park

Pinson Park is a public recreation park under construction off of Center Point Road between Sweeney Hollow Road and Glen Brook Road in Pinson.

The park, designed by Jane Ross of Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood, is slated to include three picnic pavilions, an office/events center, a splash pad, a 230-seat covered amphitheater, two playgrounds and a 9-hole disc golf course. There will also be a perimeter walking path and a 38-space parking lot. Future phases could add a dog-walking trail, a bridge over Dry Creek, and a crosswalk at Center Point Road.

In August 2014, the Pinson City Council approved a construction contract totalling $1.57 million for Clements Dean Construction to build the park, and another $277,850 to be paid to J. A. Dawson for equipment. At the time, a name had not been chosen for the park, but suggestions included Pinson Park, Children’s Memorial Park, Settlers’ Park and Palmer Park.

The official groundbreaking ceremony took place on November 30, 2014, with the first phase expected to be completed the next spring.
