Anchorage Restaurant in March 2007

The Anchorage Restaurant is located at 2826 18th Street South in downtown Homewood. It opened in 1941 and has had only four owners since then. The restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch. At lunch time it serves meat with vegetable plates, sandwiches, burgers, and salads.

In July 2005, R. T. Lee and Denton Scott purchased the restaurant. Lee sold his portion of the business to Scott in April 2008. William Shaia of Osprey, Florida, owns the building where the restaurant is located.

In August 2008, Shaia and Scott were in negotiations over the lease, which expires on September 1. It was reported by The Birmingham News that negotiations were at a standstill. Shaia's attorney, Wheeler Smith of Homewood, stated that he was confident that the dispute would be resolved and the restaurant would not be closing.
