Moore was a student at Samford University's Cumberland School of Law when he was introduced to Christ by a classmate. A little over a year later he was called into the ministry. He later pastored Earnest Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church before leaving to found his own congregation with meetings at his home in April 1981. That church grew to become Faith Chapel Christian Center which now claims more than 7,000 members.
