• July 29: Bobby Duke, Jr, an Alabama Crimson Tide football player, was killed during a robbery. Suspect Eugene Pendleton surrendered to police. Another suspect, Hayes Joseph Hooten, was caught driving Duke's car in Selma. He was convicted of 1st degree murder and sentenced to life in prison (report)
• December 13: John Harbin, an oil company executive, was shot to death during a robbery. William James Turk was arrested and charged with murder. (link)
