The 1958 Salute to Italy was billed as the 7th annual Birmingham Festival of Arts, featuring a 3-week program of performances, exhibits and events celebrating Italian arts and culture. The schedule spanned from January 24 to February 15, 1958.
The guest of honor was Italian Ambassador Manlio Brosio and his wife. The crowning event was the Beaux Arts Ball, which was given an 18th-century Venetian theme. Guest performers included violinist Isaac Stern and soprano Eileen Farrell.
