The 2010 Bessemer municipal election will be held in Bessemer to elect a Mayor of Bessemer and to fill open seats in the Bessemer City Council and Bessemer Board of Education. The non-partisan election took place on August 24, 2010, with runoffs on October 5.
Mayor
- Ken Gulley, 2,112 votes (37.5%) in general election; 4,144 votes (73%) in runoff, winner
- Ed May (incumbent), 1,312 votes (23.3%) in general election; 1,543 votes (27%) in runoff
- Louise Alexander, 1,062 votes (18.8%)
- Dorothy Davidson, 736 votes (13.1%)
- Donald Ballard, 219 votes (3.9%)
- Darayl Blue, 196 votes (3.5%)
After the runoff, former City Council candidate Jessie Burrell filed a suit in Circuit Court asking for Gulley to be disqualified because she believed him to actually reside in Hueytown. Judge N. Daniel Rogers dismissed the case, saying his court had no jurisdiction over the matter.
