This is a List of Birmingham homicides in 2024. It includes homicide cases occurring within the city limits during the calendar year. Note that a "homicide" refers to the cause of death as determined by a medical examiner, not to the commission of the crime of murder as charged by police and prosecutors.

8 homicides have been reported in the city as of February 7. Birmingham had 150 homicides in 2023, a record high. The recent record low of 62 homicides was set in 2014. At this point in 2023, 12 homicides had been reported.

The city has averaged 6.4 homicides per month, or one every 4.8 days.

1 of the reported homicides has been ruled justifiable as self-defense by investigators or prosecutors, and 1 death resulted from a crime committed in 2023. With the exception of those cases, the department acknowledges 6 chargeable homicides in 2024. Suspects have been identified in 4 cases, arrested in 4 and charged in 3.

At least 7 deaths so far have resulted from shootings and 1 from arson. 5 incidents occurred at private homes, 1 at a business, and 2 on the streets.

1 homicide took place during a robbery, 1 other took place during a kidnapping. 1 appeared to be a targeted assault, and 2 resulted from domestic disputes. The motives for 3 other homicides have not been reported.

6 victims were male and 2 were female.
