2101 Highland Avenue

2101 Highland Avenue (sometimes called the A. G. Edwards Building) is a 7-story, 68,000 square foot international-style office building located on the southeast corner of the intersection of Highland Avenue and 21st Street South,the former location of the Fairmont Apartments.

The building was constructed circa 1973 as a new headquarters for the Southern Life and Health Insurance Company. It was designed by Davis, Speake & Thrasher and is clad with pre-cast facade panels with exposed crushed-stone aggregate.

An untitled John Paul Rietta sculpture is mounted outside the front entrance of the building. Originally a rust-orange color, it has since been painted dark brown.

In December 2007 the buidling was purchased by Melaver Inc., a Savannah, Georgia-based developer which was also planning a redevelopment of the Federal Reserve Building.

At the time of its sale, tenants included A. G. Edwards; Anderson Pewitt & Associates, Blankenship & Seay Consulting Group, Brock Investment Group, Business Interiors, Lusk Lusk Dowdy and Caldwell, Medical Staffing Network, SPM Inc., Stephen Bradley & Associates, Turner & Associates, and Wettermark Holland and Keith.

In 2016 the building was sold for $5.15 million to Kassouf & Co. for its new headquarters.
