The Axis Club was a women's "departmental" club which described itself as non-sectarian and non-political. In 1925 it met in the Axis Club building at 1819 8th Avenue North. That same year members of the club appeared in the feature length documentary film Things You Ought to Know About Birmingham produced jointly by the Imperial Film Company and the Trianon Theater.

Mrs Palmer Dauguette served as club president in 1929.

In the 1930s the club building was leased, and later sold, to a forerunner of Pilgrim Congregational Church.
